What you are describing sounds like a known issue with the AMD graphics driver and certain GPUs using certain types of ports. I currently am using a Beelink SER5 with integrated AMD GPU (Radeon Graphics 7core 1800 MHz ) and AMD CPU. I've tried reinstalling, I've tried the normal user edition and LMDE. If I fall asleep watching something or get up and walk away, I know it will simply turn off the screens (not using screen saver). For many years I've simply set the screen to blank (DPMS) after 5 or 10 minutes. I'm not sure if this is due to newer hardware.
